The Beginning |
|
The WeddingMom and Dad were married August 9, 1951, in Piggot, Arkansas, when they were both 19 years old. Dad came home on leave from the Navy on Saturday, they went to church on Wednesday, and Dad says, "Let's get married." A small wedding was planned for the following Monday at the pastor's house, but the next morning Dad was knocking on Mom's door, wanting to cross the state line into Arkansas to avoid the waiting period, and get married immediately. So... they hopped in the car and away they went. Witnesses were Mom's brother, Bill, and Dad's mother. The rest, as they say, is history. |
